Parents of Children with Down Syndrome Need to Take Care of Thenmselves Too!

  • Making time to relax is very important for parents of children with Down Syndrome.

Very Important! Try to make you sure you have some "me" time every day, whether it is a half hour to take a bubble bath, or just to go for a walk (ALONE or with a friend). Or maybe a chance to go to the mall or to go to your health club. Make it something you enjoy. Take a class, ride a bike, learn to paint...

Maybe you can't get away for a half hour every day. Try for a fifteen minute power nap. Or fifteen minutes of prayer time. Or fifteen minutes to just sit and read a book.

It may be difficult to find time so schedule it! Set aside a time just for you.
